A Shorter Method of Saying the Rosary
 without distraction

By St. Louis De Monfort

Method of Celebrating the life, death and heavenly glory of Jesus and Mary in the Holy Rosary and a method of restraining our imagination and lessening distractions.

To do this a word or two is added to each Hail Mary of the decade reminding us of the mystery we are celebrating. This addition follows the name of Jesus in the middle of the Hail Mary: and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Decade 1st "Jesus becoming man"
            2nd "Jesus sanctifying"
            3rd "Jesus born in poverty"
            4th "Jesus sacrificed"
            5th "Jesus holy of holies"
           6th "Jesus in his agony"
           7th "Jesus scourged"
           8th "Jesus crowned with thorns"
           9th "Jesus carrying his Cross"
         10th "Jesus crucified"
11th "Jesus risen from the dead"
         12th "Jesus ascending to heaven"
13th "Jesus filling thee with the Holy Spirit"
         14th "Jesus raising thee up"
         15th "Jesus crowning thee"

At the end of the first five mysteries we say:
May the grace of the joyful mysteries come into our souls and make us really holy.
At the end of the second:
May the grace of the sorrowful mysteries come into our souls and make us truly patient.
At the end of the third:
May the grace of the glorious mysteries come into our souls and make us eternally happy. Amen.

Litany of Our Lady of Fatima

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for our dear country.
Our Lady of Fatima, sanctify our clergy.
Our Lady of Fatima, make our Catholics more fervent.
Our Lady of Fatima, guide and inspire those who govern us.
Our Lady of Fatima, cure the sick who confide in thee.
Our Lady of Fatima, console the sorrowful who trust in thee.
Our Lady of Fatima, help those who invoke your aid.
Our Lady of Fatima, deliver us from all dangers.
Our Lady of Fatima, help us to resist temptation.
Our Lady of Fatima, obtain for us all that we lovingly ask of thee.
Our Lady of Fatima, help those who are dear to us.
Our Lady of Fatima, bring back to the right road our erring brothers.
Our Lady of Fatima, give us back our ancient fervor.
Our Lady of Fatima, obtain for us pardon of our manifold sins and offenses.
Our Lady of Fatima, bring all men to the feet of thy Divine Child.
Our Lady of Fatima, obtain peace for the world.
O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Let Us Pray:
O God of infinite goodness and mercy, fill our hearts with a great confidence in Thy dear Mother, whom we invoke under the title of Our Lady of the Rosary and our Lady of Fatima, and grant us by her powerful intercession all the graces, spiritual and temporal, which we need, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

EXPLANATION  ON
THE DEVOTION OF THE FIVE FIRST SATURDAYS

The following is an explanation of the conditions contained in Our Lady's request regarding the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays of the Month.

Confess and receive Holy Communion

On February 15, 1926 the Child Jesus alone came to visit Sr. Lucia and asked if the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was being propagated. Sr. Lucia spoke of a difficulty some people have in confessing on the first Saturday, and asked if they might be allowed eight days in order to fulfill Our Lady's requests. Jesus answered: "Yes, even more time still, as long as they receive Me in the state of grace and have the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary."
Recite the Rosary

Five decades of the Rosary may be recited at any time or place; yet, since one will be attending Mass in order to receive Holy Communion, a very desirable time and place would be before or after Mass in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. Meditation on the mysteries according to one's capacity is an essential condition for praying the Rosary. Yet, involuntary distractions do not rob the Rosary of fruit if one is doing the best he can.

"Keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating
on the mysteries of the Rosary."

The question is often asked: Does the meditation while reciting the Rosary fulfill this condition, or is there required an additional fifteen minutes of meditation? That an additional 15 minutes of meditation is required was recently confirmed by Sr. Lucia of Fatima. It is clear too from a statement by the first Bishop of Fatima.

The last entry in the chronology of Fatima, published in the official Calendar of the Sanctuary for the year of 1940, and signed by Dom Jose Correia da Silva, the first Bishop of Fatima, gave a summary of Our Lady's requests concerning the Five First Saturdays. From that official statement in the Calendar of the Sanctuary, we read the Bishop's enumeration of the various items that pertain to the devotion of the five Saturdays:

It consists in going to Confession, receiving Communion, reciting five decades of the Rosary and meditating for a quarter of an hour on the mysteries of the Rosary on the first Saturday of five consecutive months. The Confession may be made during the eight days preceding or following the first Saturday of each month, provided that Holy Communion be received in the state of grace. Should one forget to form the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, it may be formed at the next Confession, occasion to go to confession being taken at the first opportunity.

ADMINISTRATION

1. ORGANIZATION

What is the fundamental principle of the Administration                                                                   of this Society of Reparation?

From the full pledged members of this Society, those who consecrate themselves to the service Our Lady, will be accepted as members of the Administrative Body of the Society of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

How does the Administrative Body Function?

The permanent leadership rests only on the Mother of God. There can be no one except the Mother of God as the President or the Queen of this Society.

How ever, for the practical purpose of its administration, this Society has as its “Spiritual Directors” traditional priests who practice the Devotion of Reparation to the Immaculate heart of Mary.

When and if this Society is approved as a Religious Congregation by the competent authorities, its Superior General will govern the Society through out the world.

The Fitness of the Spiritual Directors

The Spiritual Directors of this Society will be always only those Traditional Catholic Priests who have received valid ordination to the authentic priesthood. They should be united with the Pope. They should be very faithful to the Traditional Doctrines and Liturgy of the Catholic Church. Over and above all these, they should have genuine and True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

From among these Spiritual Directors, a priest most fitting and suitable will be selected as the “Director” (Superior General) of the Society of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

What are the duties of the “Director”?

As long as this Society remains as a Lay Apostolate, the Director will govern the Marian Crusaders of Reparation.

The Director will select the members of the administrative body and from among them he will select the most fitting one as the “Secretary”.
He will be responsible for all the activities of the Society and for the publications. He will take care of the discipline and regulations of the Head Quarters of the Society.

He will maintain all the properties with proper accounts, and submit for audit to the higher authorities.

The Director will regularly visit all the units of the Marian crusade of Reparation, conduct the Devotion of reparation under his supervision and strengthen members by carefully supervising their Spiritual Exercises.

Who are the other members of the Administrative Body?

From among the lay and religious full pledged members of the Society of Reparation, one who has dedicated himself whole heartedly for the growth of the Society will be selected as the “Secretary”. And also an Assistant Secretary, a Procurator, an Assistant Procurator, and the members of the administrative body will be selected.

What are the duties of the Secretary?

As the Secretary so the service and slavery to Our Lady and to Her Divine Son will be accomplished. And therefore, the Secretary should consider as his primary duty the service to the Society of Reparation. He should be always at the alert to see to it that all the activities are accomplished perfect. Namely, the weekly meetings, special meetings, conferences, spiritual exercises, propagating the devotion of reparation, and multiplying the units of the children and youth of the Marian Crusade of Reparation.

In every thing the secretary must consider it necessary to get the guidance, spiritual advice, and permission of the director.

In short, the secretary being an elder brother (or sister), and being a guide and model for all to reach Our lady, he will be a practical director for the administrative body of the Society of Reparation.

The secretary will regularly write the minutes of the meetings and present it in the meetings of the administrative body. He will keep the diary of the Shrine of Reparation without fail.

What are the duties of the other office bearers?

These office bearers are expected to be of help to the secretary in every thing.
Assistant secretary, will cooperate with the secretary in all the activities entrusted to him. In the absence of the secretary, with his permission, he will take charge of the duties of the secretary.

Procurator, will find ways and means to protect and improve the properties and funds of the Society of Reparation, and exercise his office with temperance. He will present his accounts every month to the administrative body.

Assistant Procurator, will cooperate with the procurator in all his duties.
Members of the administrative body, will regularly attend the meetings of the administrative body and come forward to lend their helping hands in all the activities of the Society of Reparation.

However, the success of this Apostolate consists only in the fraternal cooperation of all the members of the Society of Reparation, in executing the duties and responsibilities. Even if some responsibilities are entrusted to some ones, the whole Society must function with the intention: “All for our Lady” and “All for Our Lord”.

Rising up punctually and promptly, greet Our Lady: “HAIL MARY!” as soon as you awake.  As a token of love and dependence, kiss your Crucifix, your Scapular and Medal.  Kneeling down say: “I am all Thine, O Immaculate Heart of Mary, and all that I have is Thine.” Then prostrating, recite the Prayers of the Angel of Fatima (Chapter 4.)

Morning Offering

On your knees, humbly beg Our Lady to bless you.  Unite yourself to Her Immaculate Heart; enter into Her disposition and say: “O Most Holy Trinity, I offer unto Thee Mary’s acts of humility, adoration, thanksgiving and praise.” Then you may add your own prayers.

Morning Prayer

In the Religious Communities of the Apostles of Our Lady, Morning Prayer is recited in common (Laudes or prime – in Latin).  The lay apostles may recite their morning prayers as given in the traditional prayer manuals in vernacular.

Morning Meditation

After Morning Prayer, at least half an hour is spent in silent meditation.  They consider attentively the subject of meditation chosen and prepared on the previous evening; unite themselves with Our Lady in order to win the Heart of Jesus; and resolve to practice a Christian virtue or to avoid some evil habit.

Holy Mass and Communion

While attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, they adopt the admirable disposition of Our Lady at the foot of the  cross; all kneeling, women covering their head.
They always kneel to receive Holy Communion on their tongues, humbling themselves profoundly and beseeching the Mother of God to lend Her own ear and disposition to receive Her Son.

Visit to the Blessed Sacrament and to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Jesus in the tabernacle is the gift of Mary.  He wishes that we always go to Him through Our Lady who is His throne.  The Apostles of Our Lady must have a deep and special devotion to the “Hidden Jesus” in the tabernacle, a devotion like that of little Francisco; and they must always remember that whatever honour they give to Jesus, they render it also to Our Lady.  They begin and end all their duties (if possible) by paying a visit to the Blessed Sacrament.

Spiritual Reading

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation shun as a poison the reading of all dangerous literature and novels; even news papers and magazines which are worthless.  Spiritual books, on the contrary, are like letters sent to them from Heaven, which bring them into Communication with the Saints and God Himself.

They choose their reading matter (in consultation with their spiritual director of course) mainly from books which treat of Our Lady, and which will help them to know her virtues and to increase their love for Her.  They should read and re-read the “Secret of Mary” and the “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary”, written by St. Louis De Montfort.

Every day they spend at least half an hour: fifteen minutes in the morning for Scripture Reading, and fifteen minutes in the evening for devotional reading in silence and if possible at fixed hours in common.

Holy Rosary

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation pray their daily Rosary with a special love and devotion.  They should be never content with saying the minimum five decades, but all the fifteen decades and even more.

Every day they come together three times to recite the “Rosary’ and the “Angelus” in common:
1.      Before Holy Mass in the morning
2.      Before Meals at noon
3.      Before Supper in the evening

During the months of May and October, and during all Benedictions of the Blessed Sacrament, they recite the Holy Rosary in front of the Blessed Sacrament exposed.

Examination of Conscience

They must be very faithful to their daily examination of conscience, because this exercise causes the soul to advance more rapidly in acquiring union with Mary.  Five minutes during evening prayer are spent in silence for daily examination of conscience.

Evening Prayer

In the Religious Communities of the Society of Reparation, evening prayer is recited in common (Vespers or Compline – in Latin).  The lay apostles may recite the evening prayer as given in the traditional prayer manuals – in vernacular.
Reciting the Holy Rosary, Litany of the Blessed virgin, and the examination of conscience may precede or be inserted into the evening prayer.

Retiring

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation retire and take their night’s rest with Mary’s blessing upon them and under Her eyes.  Kneeling by the side of the bed, they say “Three Hail Mary’s”, in order to obtain through Her intercession the grace of a happy death.
Then they may add their own personal prayers.
Prostrating, they recite the Prayers of the Angel of Fatima.
Finally they say a “Hail Mary” in honour of their Guardian Angel that he may offer that Hail Mary for them to Our Lady at every hour of the night, and keep them safe from the illusions of the enemy.
Should it happen that they awake during the night, their first sigh must be a yearning for Mary; and following the example of the Fatima children, they may  get up to recite the prayers of the Angel of Fatima, prostrating on the ground.

Thus the Marian Crusaders of Reparation sanctify the days and nights by observing these daily spiritual exercises – in union with the Blessed Virgin Mary.

2. WEEKLY SPIRITUAL EXERCISES

Weekly Cenacle meeting

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation meet once a week in small groups to pray the Rosary and to discuss about their spiritual progress in the apostolate, and to hear the spiritual conference of the spiritual director – if he is available.  In his absence, they may read a portion of this Web Site Manuel, and a passage from the “True Devotion to The Blessed Virgin Mary” by St. Louis De Montfort.

Fortnightly Confession

They approach the Sacrament of Confession every fortnight and receive spiritual directions from their confessor, who should be a traditional priest.

3. MONTHLY SPIRITUAL EXERCISES

First Saturday Devotion

Attending First Saturday Devotion is a must for the Marian Crusaders of Reparation.  If no priest is available for organizing the First Saturday Devotion in the locality, the lay apostles observe the conditions of the First SaturdayDevotion in their private capacity, either individually or in a group.

Confession and Communion of reparation, reciting five decades of the Rosary and keeping company with Our Lady meditating the mysteries of the Rosary for fifteen minutes.  All these with the intention of making reparation for the offences committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation do not stop with the Five First Saturdays, but continue to observe the devotion of reparation every month of the year.

All Night Vigil of Reparation

Once a month, preferably on the First Saturdays, the Marian Crusaders of Reparation spend a full night in vigil of prayer, sacrifice and reparation for the sins of mankind and for the sacrilege and blasphemies committed against the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Monthly Fasting and Abstinence

Every First Friday they observe fasting and abstinence with the intention of heeding the request of Our Lady ofFatima, to offer sacrifices for the conversion of sinners.

Monthly Recollection

One Sunday of every month is a day of recollection.  Silence is observed till noon meals.  Special meditation points and spiritual conference by the spiritual director are arranged.
On the monthly recollection day, they spend an hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament to pray for the sanctification of the clergy, and to make reparation for the outrages, sacrilege and indifference committed against the Most Holy Eucharist.

4. ANNUAL SPIRITUAL EXERCISES

Renewal of the Total Consecration

Every year they renew their Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the anniversary day (March 25), by repeating the 33 days preparation prescribed by St. Louis De Montfort. (See the Golden Book)

Annual Retreat

Every year they attend at least three days retreat conducted in a traditional manner, according to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola or St. Louis De Montfort.

Annual General Conference

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation organize once a year general conferences in a Regional or National level, with a spiritual theme and programme, aimed at fostering the Devotion of reparation and hastening the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, always under the direction of the spiritual Director.

Fatima Festival

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation celebrate every year the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Fatima on May 13, and on October 13 – with processions, Holy Mass and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

2. MATERIAL RESOURCES

(1) THE INTELLECTUAL MEANS

FATIMA STUDY CIRCLES

FATIMA CHILDREN AND YOUTH MOVEMENTS

The Marian Crusaders of Reparation, under the direction of the Spiritual Director, will organize in their locality “Fatima Study Circles” for children and youth.
Once a week or at least twice a month, children and youth are invited to attend a regular course on "Catholic Doctrines" and ‘Fatima Catechism”, which aims at educating them in the traditional doctrines of the Catholic Church, deepening their knowledge on Fatima Message and developing in them a tender devotion and filial love towards the Mother of God.
Vocation to priesthood and religious life will be inculcated into their minds.
A “Youth Magazine” should be carefully edited and published exclusively for this purpose, by the Spiritual Director.

FATIMA PUBLICATIONS

The official organ of the "Apostles of Our Lady" must be published by the National Headquarters regularly (quarterly or monthly).
All Fatima Publications are edited and published under the direct supervision of the Spiritual Director, who must be a traditional Priest.
As is apostolate bases its values primarily on God’s grace, and in the interior devotion to and the intimate union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the whole machine of the Devotion of Reparation should be directed towards the production and utilization of the ‘Spiritual Means” of grace.

(2) THE FINAnCIAL MEANS:

POVERTY AND HARD WORK

The growth and expansion

This apostolate builds its material means on the spirit of poverty and hard work.  Its growth and expansion depends totally on the providence of God.  Without this spirit, the apostolate, that is: drawing souls closer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, will cease to exist.

Material help therefore should be channelled to establish DEVOTION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY. For example: to foster Fatima Spiritual formation Centers, Shrines of Reparation, Convents and Monasteries of Perpetual Reparation .... etc.

Those who generously come forward to support such causes, will receive the reward abundantly through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
